Marco Polo (marcopolo.net) sells large eSIM bundles for Europe to truck drivers, nomads and business travellers — the same people we build HyperMobile for. So we read their plan details and terms (as of October 2026) and put them next to ours. Plans change, so always check the current terms before you buy — but this is what they say today.
ID check: a passport or EU ID before you get online
Marco Polo’s big Europe bundles (80 to 480 GB) run on a Spanish line, and their plan details say it plainly: “the Spanish law required identity check using a passport or an EU ID”. Their terms describe identifying customers online “via biometric systems”, and reviewers report being asked for a passport photo and a selfie after paying. HyperMobile has no ID check (no KYC). You enter your email, pay, and your eSIM arrives within minutes — no passport scan, no selfie, no waiting for approval.
28 days instead of 30
Those same big bundles are valid for 28 days, counted from the activation date of the line; their longer options are 2 or 3 cycles of 28 days. Every HyperMobile bundle gives you 30 days, starting when you install the eSIM. Two days sounds small, but it adds up: to cover a full year you need 14 bundles of 28 days, against 13 of 30 days.
One carrier, or more than one network
Marco Polo lists one carrier per plan: “Carrier: Orange (Llamaya)” on the big Europe bundles, “Carrier: Orange” on the smaller ones. If that network is weak where you park for the night, there is no plan B. Our Premium bundle works on all networks in each country and lets you switch manually to the strongest one, and Unlimited EU connects automatically to the strongest network on our list. That matters exactly where coverage hurts: border regions, rural parking areas and campsites.
24/7 support in your own language
Marco Polo handles support through a contact form, and its terms mention a time frame of up to 8 hours to solve technical problems. At HyperMobile, real people answer 24/7 via live chat, WhatsApp and Telegram — in your own language. Stuck at a border at 3 AM? You get an answer in minutes, not hours.
When Marco Polo can still be a fit
Fair is fair: their big bundles come with a Spanish phone number, and if you want that number and don’t mind the ID check, they can work for you. Just compare like for like — price per GB, price per day and what happens when something goes wrong.
Check any eSIM in 2 minutes
- Is there an ID check (passport, selfie) before the eSIM works?
- How many days do you really get — 28 or 30 — and when do they start?
- Which network or networks can the eSIM use in each country?
- Which support channels are there, at what hours, and in which languages?
- Can you get a refund if the eSIM never works?
We built HyperMobile so you can skip the paperwork and just get online — compare our EU bundles here.
